FAQs – Leash

1.Why can’t pet leash be extended or retracted? What are the causes and how to resolve it?

A: There are three core causes: the locking mechanism is not fully returned to the default position; internal cord entanglement or debris obstruction; and fatigue or misalignment of the internal spring.

Troubleshooting steps:

① First, verify the locking switch is pushed to the “unlock” position. Gently pull the cord 10-20 cm, then release it to test if it auto-retracts.

② If it remains jammed, disassemble the leash housing (some models feature a snap-fit design requiring no tools). Remove internal hair, dust, and other debris, untangle any wrapped cord, and reinstall it.

③ If the spring has failed, it is recommended to contact after-sales support for replacement with genuine factory parts. DIY disassembly is not advised, as it may damage the gear mechanism.

2.The locking function fails and cannot fix the cord length. What should I do?

A: The main causes are damage to the spring of the locking button, misalignment between the internal latch and the gear engagement, or foreign objects jamming the locking mechanism.

Troubleshooting steps:

① Use a cotton swab to clean debris from the locking button and internal card slot, then apply a small amount of sewing machine oil for lubrication.

② Press the locking button to test its elastic feedback. If there’s no elasticity, it’s highly likely the spring is damaged, and after-sales repair is required.

③ If the latch is slightly misaligned, manually adjust its position and then test the locking effect. For severe misalignment, replace the latch component (contact after-sales for genuine parts if needed).

3.Can a broken cord or one detached from the internal spool be repaired by oneself?

A: It is not recommended to repair it by yourself. Splicing and using a broken cord will lead to a significant reduction in strength, posing a risk of pet escape. If the connection point detaches, you may temporarily reinforce it with a double fisherman’s knot and apply a small amount of glue to secure it, but this is only suitable for emergency situations. The core solution is to contact after-sales service to replace it with an original factory cord of the same specification, ensuring the traction strength matches the product.

4.Does a pet leash make abnormal noises (e.g., gear friction sounds, spring sounds) during use? Is this normal?

A: A slight gear rotation sound is normal. However, if harsh friction sounds, stuttering abnormal noises, or loose spring sounds occur, attention is required.

Troubleshooting steps:

① Disassemble the leash housing, clean internal debris, and check if the cord rubs against the gear edges.

② Apply a small amount of lubricating oil to the gear shaft to reduce wear.

③ If the spring is loose or the gear is deformed, contact after-sales service for part replacement.

5.The handle of the pet leash slips or becomes loose, affecting its use. What should I do?

A: The causes are detachment of the anti-slip rubber sleeve on the handle, loose internal screws, or aging and deformation of the sleeve.

Troubleshooting steps:

① If the anti-slip rubber sleeve has come off, replace it by attaching a silicone anti-slip patch.

② Use a screwdriver to tighten the fixing screws inside the handle, then test if looseness persists.

③ If the sleeve is severely aged, contact after-sales service to replace the handle sleeve (genuine factory part recommended for optimal fit).

6.What emergency solutions are available if a pet leash suddenly malfunctions during outdoor use (e.g., cord breakage, locking function failure)?

Emergency solutions:

① If the cord breaks: Temporarily tie a knot with the pet’s collar, or use nearby cloth strips/ropes to make a makeshift leash. Return home with the pet as soon as possible and avoid lingering in unfamiliar environments.

② If the locking function fails: Manually hold the cord near the pet’s collar to control the leash length, preventing the pet from running excessively.

③ If the casing cracks: Wrap the casing with tape to secure it and prevent internal parts from falling out. Contact after-sales service immediately upon returning home.
